MAX STEINER ORCHESTRA APPOINTS VICK BAIN AS AUSTRIA LIFTS LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS
Revered Viennese orchestra first to open its doors to musicians to perform together again using the latest remote recording techniques
The prestigious contemporary film and tv orchestra, the Max Steiner Orchestra based in Vienna, Austria are pleased to announce that Vick Bain has been appointed as their UK Business Development Consultant.
The news follows an announcement by Austria’s government of the gradual easing of the country’s lockdown measures to curb coronavirus, allowing orchestras to record again.
Vick has worked in various sectors of the music industry for over twenty years. Enrolled into the Music Week Women in Music Awards Roll Of Honour 2017 and the BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour Music Industry Powerlist 2018, for six years Vick was CEO of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors (now known as the Ivors Academy) working with many of the world’s top classical and media composers. Vick was also recently appointed as a board director of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
The Max Steiner Orchestra (MSO) was created to bring the highest quality and competitively priced film, television and video game music recording to the birthplace of classical music, Vienna. The Founder, Natalia Villanueva García, has collaborated as Score Supervisor with legendary composers Danny Elfman and David Newman and was the Project Manager for Artistic Production of the ‘World of Hans Zimmer Tours’. MSO has already recorded for a wide variety of world class composers and publishers such as composer José Feliciano, MTV Unplugged, Disney in Concert, Disney’s Fantasia, Best of John Williams, Universal Music UK (Bruton Music), EMI Music UK and Red Bull Music.

With COVID-19 social distancing beginning to ease across Europe, restrictions were lifted in Vienna on Monday [4 May] enabling musicians to perform together provided that they adhere to government rules in relation to social distancing and hygiene. MSO records in some of the world’s most outstanding studios and venues, which employ the best studio personnel, who are experts in the latest remote recording techniques. This means that, despite lockdown measures still being in force in other parts of the world, musicians and producers can continue work together to create and capture new recordings.
Commenting on the appointment MSO Orchestra founder Natalia Villanueva Garcia says “Working with Vick was the obvious choice for developing our collaborations with UK composers and publishers; we are delighted to have her on board as she brings a wealth of experience.”
Vick Bain says “I am very much looking forward to working with MSO. I was in Vienna before the lockdown listening to them record and so know the studio facilities they use and the orchestra itself is phenomenal quality.”
